HISTORY AND STORIES

The American Revolution was fought not just on land, but also by sea. Naval invasions, blockades of ports, blockade runners, and battles at sea were as much a part of America’s War of Independence as the battles on land that we all learned about in school. Long Island’s War of Independence was especially influenced by the sea. Here are just a few of the stories about ships and the American Revolution, some as seen through the eyes of the Patriots and Loyalists of Long Island.
